Latest update - I let an AI loose on the software, and it suggested some changes. For example, the calculator now accepts virgule as input! Error checking is a tad better, and there are no alterations to core routines - results will still be the same.
A free calculator for thermodynamically corrected pH buffers — recipes by weight or titration, with temperature and ionic-strength corrections built in. I wrote the first version of this in BASIC to accompany the book "Buffer Solutions: The Basics" with John Easterby, first published 30 years ago in 1996. The book scores 4.5 out 5 on Goodreads and Amazon!
The calculator migrated to a web presence, and has been live since 2020 and used to make well over 1.3 million buffers, with an English/Cymraeg toggle and a dark/light mode toggle added recently.
It seems to be exceptionally well used, at 1.3 million visits! I now fund the site myself (with some generous grant and individual support). Here's the geographical source of the last 200 visits.
